On those early albums I fell in love with the angles, the scree, the defenestrating guitar, the splatter of drums like chopsticks skittering across the pavement...and, somehow, the sweetness... This is my favourite Deerhoof album, though. Even more favourite than my last favourite: Love-Lore. I wish I were aging with such aplomb. If my life was a new record, it would sound like boiled perogies.

Not gonna lie, I've listened to this album more than 100 times in the past 6 months (early 2021). Pretty much have in on repeat all the time. Very rarely do I encounter an production that resonates so well with me. The overdrive tones and studio production are next level. Post-punk vibes are insane. Love the wailing vibrato. Highly recommend.
